Ben Wall – Web Designer

Hi, my name is Ben. I’m a web designer and have been designing websites for about two decades now. For the past four years, I’ve been running my own agency. I started during Covid in 2020 and haven’t looked back—it’s been really good so far. One of the best aspects of my current job is working from home and collaborating with amazing clients daily. I’m always busy with different projects, and I can honestly say I have my dream job. If I had to go back to a regular office job with a daily commute, I would absolutely hate it. I remind myself of this every day to stay grateful for what I do.
What have I done in the past? Well, cycling is one of my biggest passions, and I tend to follow my passions in life. Not wanting to be stuck in a dead corporate job, I left a steady position to start a bike shop with a friend. We ran it together, but unfortunately, it became insolvent and we had to close down. After that, I bounced around a few different jobs in the biking industry before ending up selling cars.
Car sales was a decent job overall, but working weekends was a real pain. You had to be “on” all the time and felt guilty taking any time off. It was very much a high-pressure environment, which wasn’t ideal for me, though I did enjoy it while it lasted. I made good money and would tell people that I basically just drove cars around and talked to people for a living. If you’re good with people, selling cars is pretty straightforward. It’s not really about the car itself—by the time someone comes to buy, they’re usually sold on the vehicle. You just need to ensure it fits their requirements, make the numbers work, and offer a good price for their trade-in.
Now I’ve started my own business, and I’ve been very fortunate. I’ve used my social network to reach new clients. Web design is like any visible trade—whether you’re a bricklayer or a roofer, people can see your work, which leads to referrals. So that’s me in a nutshell! If you’d like to know more, please reach out. This is just a brief introduction to who I am and how I got here.
